The Meteorite Hunters will be out in February 2025

My first book is called The Meteorite Hunters and it is coming in February 2025, published by Oneworld.

I first got interested in meteorites about six years ago, when I heard scientists say that these extraterrestrial rocks are like time capsules that record the history of the solar system. Usually, when we want to know about space, we gaze through a telescope. But meteorites provide a different, more subtle window on our cosmic backyard. I wanted to look through that window myself and report what I saw.

So I started writing and commissioning a few stories that explored all this for New Scientist. As I did so, I encountered the people that find meteorites in the first place. I had never thought much about how one searches for a space rock before, but it turns out to be a world crammed with unlikely characters, adventure, myth and surprise. Who knew that one ground-breaking meteorite hunter is also Norway’s most famous jazz guitarist – or that his searching ground is the rooftops of Oslo?

This coalesced into a book with two aims. To tell the stories of the world’s best, most adventurous meteorite hunters; and to explain the secrets that are hidden inside their treasures. I have put everything into this book and it has some ripping yarns in it. I do hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I have writing it.
